Llamas
We had occasion to add a rescue llama to our fold and we have never regretted it. The sheep took so well to her, but she was not naturally a guard-llama. After a few hair-raising experiences (where she escaped to the neighbour's horses!) we decided to find her a friend.
After some research on the internet, I found a wonderful llama/alpaca farm Touch Stone Manor with owners who are much like myself in their treatment of animals. Soon after visiting their farm, we became the happy owners of Pumpkin, a chocolate brown llama.
She has turned out to be just the thing for Alyssa, our first llama, and is also a wonderful ambassador for all llamas. The two of them seem pretty detached from the sheep during the day, but at night they are on guard and the sheep flock around them for protection.
In early January 2007, two more llamas were adopted. These "Rasta" llamas who had not been shorn their entire lives (nine and five years) quickly integrated into the whole flock. The unsightly fleece was removed in April (not an easy task as they were still very anti-tactile) and one has fleece with great potential.

Angora Goats
In the summer of 2004, we acquired some angora goats.
In the winter of 2007, two of our angora goats were pregnant and unfortunately we lost both sets of twins to the very cold weather.
March 2008, we are very pleased to have two new kid goats, one male, one female. Ricky, born a twin, began with a struggle, but has survived the odd and now frolics happily among the hay bales.
